3/... William Randolph Hearst, Teddy Roosevelt, and Henry Cabot Lodge persuaded a reluctant President McKinley to go to war in order to save American Manhood, which had “gone soft” in the 30 years since the Civil War.
4/ Assuming humanity survives another 50 years – a big assumption – historians will be puzzling this question: How did American White Males becomes such a threat to all the known life in the universe?
5/.. .How, after 4 years of reckless, cruel, vicious rule by a pathetic mobster, how could it be that a majority of White Males favored Trump's re-election?
6/ It all started in the European Renaissance and subsequent Protestant Reformation, when God was fully and frankly and devoutly pictured as a powerful old white male, the Sky Father. (That is still the unchallenged idolatry in most White Protestant Churches.)
7/ From 1789 until 2008 every leader of our nation, freely chosen, was a White Male. All were wealthy white males. All except Kennedy were wealthy Protestant White Males...
8/...And virtually no one found that remarkable. Because, of course, God Himself is a very wealthy – “Cattle on a thousand hills!” – white male. In the sky.
9/ That God could also be female, that women are equally in the image of God, was and is a foreign, pagan, stupidity to all too many white males. This stuff is pervasive, wired into our imaginations, in the air we all breathe.
10/ Deeper even than racism is this assumption of the superiority and therefore of the rightful dominance of propertied white males.
11/ And now, with earth’s survival in the balance, this folly is only getting heightened. Incredibly, a majority of white males still support Trump in this fall’s election. What is it about Trump that we white males desire?
12/ Favoring Trump is a way of being “a real man”. It means being ignorant of the past and defiant of any authority; threatening others with AR 15’s to show that your penis is just enormous; assaulting women and then sneering at their complaints;...
13/.. dwelling in a war of all against all as you compete for more and more money in obedience to nihilistic greed; spraying hostile insults; defying courtesy, decency, justice and the liberty of others.
14/ American manhood hasn’t gone soft. As a response to the challenge to our automatic station of superiority among the humans of our land, White American manhood has curdled into cruelty and greed. How we’ll be humbled and redeemed will hopefully be revealed soon.
15/ The first thing the majority of white males needs to get is this: the One in whose image Trump struts is not God. The One Scripture calls “The Accuser of the Brothers”, the “Liar and the Father of Lies”, is Satan. You don’t’ want to follow him. Doesn’t end well.
