Surah Mulk (Surah Tabarak)

The prophet SAWS told us that it saves us from the punishment of the grave.

This surah will intercede for us in front of Allah SWT on the day of judgement until the sins of the one who memorizes and recites it are forgiven.

Primary theme of Surah Mulk is the demonstration of the power of Allah SWT.

How Allah’s dominion is Mulk, how His kingdom is manifested in His creation and therefore how He alone is worthy of worship.

Surah Mulk is one of two surahs in the Quran that starts with “tabarak”. The other being Surah Furqan.

Allah SWT is tabarak, He is the source of blessings, He is exalted in His essence and all blessings and good come from Him. Because all dominion and control belong to Him. And He is capable of all things.

He is the one who has created death and life to test you, to see which among you is doing the best of deeds

Surah Mulk challenges us. Look at the creation and see. There is no flaw, imperfection, mistakes. Look again and again, your eyes will grow tired but you will still find no imperfection or flaws.

Surely a creator as powerful/mighty as this deserves to be worshipped.

Surah Mulk then mentions punishments.

For those of you who are too blind to take heed of the miracles and who ignore the messengers and when they are brought to Jahannam the angels will be in disbelief, how did you end up here?

The ultimate intelligence is an understanding of the purpose of life. This level of intelligence is available to every single being.

If your intelligence does not guide you to the truth of Allah then that intelligence has indeed failed you.

Those who are in awe of their Lord, and fearful of Allah SWT in private, those are the ones that will have forgiveness and a mighty reward.

If you can fear Allah in the secrecy of what you think is private then indeed you will be the one who will be forgiven by Allah SWT.

V.27 of Surah Mulk. When they see the impending doom, the faces of those who disbelieved will become dark.

Surah Mulk concludes by affirming our belief in Ar-Rahman. We should put our trust in Him.

And those who reject Allah, they will be told, the very water that you drink, if Allah willed it would disappear. And if it disappeared, who could bring it back?
