Clothing and attire is something very simple, yet most men are lazy to dress appropriate for the occasion. Most of the time you aren't going to be boggled down by choices like women have. A no-nonsense style guide.
1. Put together an interchangeable wardrobe.

1xBlack formal pant
1xNavy formal pant
1xKhaki formal pant
1xDenim
2xWhite formal shirt
2xblue formal shirt (preferably lighter shade close to white)
1xPolo (solid)
Shirts could be 1xsolid and 1xstripes/checks in each color.
2. Get proper dress shoes - two pairs, different colors preferably - one black must, other either brown or tan.

3. Get a haircut once in two months.

4. Shave every day.
5. If you're developing a beard style - keep it well groomed and trim regularly for any unruly hair.

6. If you live in a hot region, don't wear a shirt without wearing a good undershirt.

7. Deodorant is personal preference according to body odour. Just don't axe it.
8. Bathe well, atleast twice a day if you live in hot regions.

9. Men - don't even bother coloring your hair - and even grey hair has become fashionable these days.

10. Most important thing - don't be fat. When you exercise and get fit, it improves your appearance 100x.
11. Add another 100x to that if you build muscles, lift weights, and eat natural - clean up yourself inside out. Even an average looking soy-boy can become decently charming if you work out. Doubt it? Watch what Dulquer (@dulQuer) and Vijay Devarakonda looked like a decade before
12. Don't ever get a tattoo. If you must, get it someplace people can't see. Definitely a NO on hands or face or neck or wherever visible.

The most important advice of all is the following one.

13. It's better to buy 2 nos of high quality 5000 rupee pants, than buy
ten numbers of low quality 1000 rupee pants. When putting together a wardrobe, you must take into account the longevity. The right fabric, the right brands - when bought and maintained well, will last like new for atleast a decade and a half.
So, don't go skimping on your wardrobe. Even if it takes time to build, build slowly and consistently - and dress appropriately. When it comes to professional arena, people measure who you are, with your appearance, before you even talk. Dressing for success is part of becoming
a success. This is more applicable if you're in a socially oriented profession - if you go to a workplace to work. If you're your own boss, it's even more so important to dress well when you get out.
I kind of dismissed this idea as b.s when I started my business and dressed sub-par only to invite treatment commensurate to my clothing and style. When you're with a clean shave, hair combed neatly, your clothes perfectly fit you, the kind of confidence you feel is unmatched.
Will leave you here with some examples.
Some more:
So, try to introduce few positive changes appearance wise. These changes then internalize at a subliminal confidence level too. There's a world of difference between wearing a Peter England and wearing a Louis Philippe. Even more so when you compare LP to Italian Bespoke.
So, slowly start off. The follow brands are the best for beginners. As you become wealthy you can go for bespoke, custom tailored, custom fabrics/imported, etc. Start with these though and don't go for brands in lower segments (Peter England being one of them).
For Pants & Shirts
1. Louis Philippe
2. Van Heusen
3. Allen Solly (to a certain extent)
4. Raymond (middle to top segment).
For shoes

1. Clarks
2. Ruosh

For watches:

1. Tissot
2. Fossil
3. Police (i don't like the branding).
Goodluck on your journey. May the force be with you all. Become better men inside out, and clean up your wardrobe closet first. If you want to transform from a boy to a man, take these steps one after another.
