HOW I ATTENDED MY EX GIRLFRIEND'S WEDDING WITHOUT KNOWING IT

Issa full thread
In 2010, I was invited to a wedding where a Trinidad and Tobago-based former classmate was tying the knot with his girlfriend of 2 years. Although the invitation was not extended directly to my person, I turned up in the company of my two other former classmates at Harare Poly
This was Saturday the 25th of October. As usual, we didn't need to go through the painful process of attending the other aspects of the wedding- procession, prayer, declaration of intention and all other boring parts. We were interested in the exchange of vows, rings and dancing
We were lucky to get a vantage table which gave us an unfettered view of all wedding proceedings. We sat less than 4M from the stage. This also meant that food and drinks were in abundance flowing from all corners of the hall
I didn't get the time to meet the groom during his short stint in Harare prior to this, his big day. A colleague had hinted that the bride was a beautiful law student whom we had left at the UZ in 2008. The University of Zimbabwe's faculty of law is imbued with unmatched huns
As we settled in, @jahprayzah's sungano was playing. As usual, there was this Diaspora based auntie who had landed at the then Harare International Airport Thursday night from the Yukeyi specifically for the wedding.
This crew was also in attendance. There is no need for me to tell which side they belonged to.
This was the Member of Parliament from their rural constituency
And that Yukeyi based-auntie's local friend
Ama 2000 were in full attendance taking selfies with everyone around, including uncles from the rurals
Outside, there was also some beer smuggling as the maininis were taking advantage of their access to almost everything to take care of their boyfriends
I didn't get to know who this lady was until the head technician was in trouble following a minor power a glitch. Lights went off and the generator failed for 5 minutes. But at this point everything was well.
The Pastor rose up to proceed with the ceremony
When he mentioned Ruvarashe something struck me. I had dated a Ruva from the Faculty of Law between September 2005 and December 2007. Our relationship was so serious that I would attend law lectures with her even though I was in commerce. We had a future figured out together.
Ruva was 2 months pregnant when I went to work in Hwange. I tried to locate her with no success. At one point I returned to the UZ only to be told that she had suspended her studies owing to personal reasons. She shut me out of her life completely. I was hurt. This was hell
The Pastor ordered @energymutodi to go on stage.
The Director of Ceremonies asked the Yukeyi auntie to take the sweating bride outside for a few minutes. This was done whilst @energymutodi was belting out his music
We kept on waiting for Ruva with boring musical performances in front of us.
Until an old man went on stage to announce the premature end to the wedding. He promised to provide further details after consulting with relatives as Ruva was already in an ambulance on way to hospital
...
Part 2.... coming soon
