I swore an oath to the Constitution, @FredFleitz, and the only one unhinged here is you, arguing that anyone working around the military must swear a leadership oath to one man and voluntarily restrict their 1A rights as US citizens because you don't happen to like them. /1
@FredFleitz Not only are you intentionally being disingenous - you know the difference between your restrictions at CIA and those of other Federal employees - you are deprecating grown men and women who think that reading something by me will undermine their military oath. Shame on you. /2
I will continue speaking out, as an American citizen. As I did before 2016 and as I will after 2020. But once again: Shame on you. You know better than this. Or should. /3x

I take seriously the arguments of well-intentioned critics who link the forgiveness of Trump among his otherwise masculinity-obsessed base with race and wish I'd said more about it. That's a part of it. But here's why it wasn't central to what I wrote. /1
There is *definitely* a "whitelash" or white anxiety among some of these Trump voters, but I wasn't trying to explain Trump's general support so much as I was trying to get a handle on the gigantic hypocrisy among his most reliable voters. /2
I think for a lot of these guys, race is just another area of disempowerment, along with the role of women and their decline of their value in the global marketplace. I buy all of that. But there's the still the neutron star of hypocritical dark matter at the center of it all. /3

Folks, I don't think the "start testing nukes" crap is coming from Trump. I know we love the explanation that he wants to play with "the nuclear," but always remember how fundamentally stupid he is, and how much he doesn't know about any of this. This is coming from others. /1
There's a group of people in industry, think tanks, the military, and consulting firms who really miss the Cold War emphasis on nukes, because it was their life's work. It's all they know, and back in the day, the money was good and nukes were the A-list thing to work on. /2
I was on the edge of that world for a while in the 80s, and it paid well and there was plenty of work. The end of the Cold War put an end to all that, and presidents of both parties defunded the nuclear enterprises and reduced their importance. This did not sit well with them. /3

Four years ago, MAGA Nation said "Just you wait! You'll get yours! When Trump is in, he'll change it all!"
Now we're told: "Landslide! This time! You'll pay!"
I still don't really know what they thought would happen, then or now. /1
I remember in 2016 being told how people like me - the elites, or something - were going to finally pay for their crimes. Instead, Trump passed giant tax cuts and made people like me richer while he impoverished farmers with a trade war no one really understands. /2
Abortion is still legal, gays are still gay-marrying. Hollywood is still Hollywood. He's made household names of people like Rick Wilson. The media are doing fine. (If anything, Trump's been a boon to the New York Times and other newspapers.) You'd think this would matter. /3
