Currently watching a playthrough of ‘The Manhole’, the HyperCard game by Rand and Robyn Miller (of Myst fame!), and nothing could have prepared me for what this dragon sounds like.
Realizing that @RoamResearch and HyperCard have a lot of overlap and this understanding is making my heart happy https://t.co/boT0iHf7ro
Listening to Rand Miller talk about making games in HyperCard makes me want to see more stuff made with this type of dev kit. Is there anything comparable being used today?
Just remembered this quote by @robinsloan about HyperCard in his essay ‘An app can be a home-cooked meal’. Where’s our 2020 equivalent tho?? robinsloan.com/notes/home-coo… Image
Oh my god I’m gonna have a BLAST watching this aren’t I
Two takeaways from this clip:

1) I just met Stewart Cheifet ten seconds ago and I already love him
2) @RoamResearch is the long unfulfilled dream of hypertext finally realized, and the sky is the limit
I remember when I was in school learning how to use a WYSIWYG website app for the first time I thought “Oh, someday we’ll make applications like this.” Yet here we are in 2020 and this is still not the truth!!

(Also the song that starts this clip is VERY good)
I watched this clip and immediately thought “Oh, @mattcassinelli is the Danny Goodman of Shortcuts.”
Of COURSE one of the first people to understand the power of HyperCard was @kevin2kelly! Now I want to find a copy of the Electronic Whole Earth Catalog and spend a day browsing around.
Watching someone make a rudimentary art wiki inside of HyperCard makes me thankful for progress. Last week I googled ‘Leonardo Da Vinci notebook’ and immediately found high-resolution scans of his pages. I take that for granted!
Love the way that Bill Atkinson describes HyperText’s value: “A whole new body of people who have creative ideas” are able to create ‘interactions’ for themselves. This is why it’s been exciting to see @RoamResearch grow. Still so much work to do on the interaction front!
Very excited for hypertext to get a real shot https://t.co/M3AgeSk0OB
We’re getting there... https://t.co/enbgHQz8Ef
Very fun update to this thread: A tweet managed to make its way to Kevin Kelly and now the Electronic Whole Earth Catalog is preserved on the @internetarchive! https://t.co/PLV4o9HRIF
