Last year as I was leaving Winco, I saw a Black man and a white woman get out of a car. They were arguing. Or more accurately, she was yelling at him. Whatever he was saying was too quiet to hear. It sure looked like a domestic fight - but all verbal. She was loud and abusive.
I saw this other woman had got out her phone and assumed she was calling 911. I hollered, "Don't you dare call 911. You might get him killed." and she gave me the oddest look, thought a moment, nodded, put away her phone, and walked in the store.
For me, I think that before calling 911, we have to think whether or not someone's life is in jeopardy because nothing less merits the death penalty - the possible result of every encounter with police.
