Why is Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru called as the ARCHITECT OF MODERN INDIA and its DEMOCRATIC STRUCTURE?

🔵 In 1926, at the Madras Congress, NehruJi had been instrumental in committing the Congress to the goal of Independence.

🔵 In 1927, in Brussels NehruJi attended the Congress of Oppressed Nationalities which gave our Freedom Movement an International outreach.

🔵 In 1928, NehruJi demanded complete independence, it was against GandhiJi’s opinion of accepting a DOMINION status for India as proposed by the BritishRaj.

Thus further, he opposed GOI’s Act of 1935, demanding a popularly chosen Constituent Assembly.

🔵 In May 1947 ,Lord Mountbatten had sent a plan for creating Confederations comprising Bombay, Madras, Bengal etc thus inviting possibilities of emergence of several successor States in BritishRaj and then transferring POWER.

NehruJi strongly opposed this wrote to the viceroy.

🔵 NehruJi was prominent in framing the Indian Constitution.

🔵NehruJi ,passed a resolution in the Constituent Assembly, that set out to declare India as an Independent Republic in which ALL THE POWERS was derived from the PEOPLE.

🔵Under NehruJi as PM, the then Deputy PM Iron man Vallabhai Patel and his right-hand man, V.P. Menon set out to consolidate all fragmented territories and princely states into one nation.

🔵 NehruJi player a vital rule in Resettling lakhs of Refugees Post-Partition. Permanent rehabilitation colonies were setup around the capital.

🔵Under NehruJi’s leadership, the Election Commission of India was set up in accordance with the Constitution on 25th January 1950.

🔵As a Chairman Of Union Constitution Committee & the Union Powers Committee, NehruJi played a crucial role in determining the balance of power bet’n States & centre.

🔵NehruJi Piloted The Atomic Energy Act in the Constituent Assembly which gave rise to the Atomic Energy Commission chaired by PM

🔵His impact on world politics is widely acknowledged. He emerged as an authoritative critic of RACISM, Imperialism, & an advocate of Asian & Afro-Asian Unity

🔵His foreign policy of NON ALIGNMENT to benefit from both sides, created distinctive & independent identity for India.

🔵PLANNING COMMISSION & 5yr Plans were formulated to establish industrial & economic base of the country.

▪️Placed DAUGHTERS on the same level as sons on the issue of INHERITANCE of property

🔵 He passed State Recognition Act 1956
Linguistic Indentities were respected & recognised.

🔵From 1921 to 1945, he was sent to jail for total 9 terms for periods ranging from 12days to 1041, a total of 3259 days,which was nearly nine years of his life

He acclimatised to prison life, read voraciously and wrote his mind out. He was a literary genius.
