And no more likely than Gen X to be single parents, to live with roommates, or to live alone.

I've noticed this too. Lots of white people in the protests, and overwhelming support for the protests among white media figures.

Maybe America as a whole has just had enough of Trump, enough of militarized unaccountable police, enough of all the bullshit.
I mean, we just had the president and his administration get tens of thousands of people killed by bungling the response to a pandemic. The economy has Great Depression level unemployment. And now Trump is talking about shooting protesters?

Enough is enough, Jesus Christ!
This isn't 1968. This isn't even 2015. This is Americans seeing their country get run into the dirt by the most incompetent corrupt administration in history, which was elected purely so that a few old racists could keep their knee on the neck of Black America a little longer.

I haven't read a good article about how a lot of scientific fields are basically just turning into applied math and converging on the same basic set of tools (linear & dynamic programming, various stats stuff).

But I'd read that article.
This development is full of opportunity because it makes everything interdisciplinary - a statistician can do biology, a biologist can do economics, an economist can do fluid dynamics, etc.

But it comes with risks -- hidden "canonical" assumptions, monoculture, etc.
The clearest implication of the shift is that everyone from every science and social science field should take the same statistics, linear programming, and dynamic programming classes as undergrads (in addition to their discipline-specific methods courses).
