1)On Beta Chokururama, Godfrey Kauzani & Cain Nyevhe,there is a sworn affidavit by Tedius Chimedza,the only survivor of that horrific attack, detailing complicit btn state security agents & a very senior MDC official,currently a legislator. A copy of that affidavit is public info
(2) In the affidavit, Chimedza details how the trio was accussed of stealing US$10k & a shotgun from the senior MDC official's residence. 5 days b4 their murder, Chokururama is alleged to have told the other three of unspecified action targeted at the 4 by the MDC official.
(3) On 14 June 2008, at 9am, Chimedza alleged they were called to the MDC official's offices in Newlands purportedly to be assigned a rescue mission of party elders who had been beaten by Zanu-PF youths in Mutoko.The 4 met the MDC official, spouse & driver.
(4) Chimedza alleges they were given ZW$10bn allowances plus fuel coupons. They were instucted to use Kauzani's Nissan Champ to travel to Mutoko but were not told the exact place where they were supposed to rescue the so-called party elders.
5)Chimedza alleges they were told 2 travel 2 Murewa where they were 2 meet an undisclosed person who was 2 take them 2 the rescue place. As they proceeded to Murewa, the MDC official's driver, who didnt travel with the 4, constantly checked on their progress thru calls to Beta.
(6) After a stopover at Bhora, where they roasted meat & drank beer waiting for the sun to set, the driver advised the four to proceed to Murewa. Immediately after leaving Bhora, Chimedza alleges the MDC official's driver, driving a white Mazda pick-up flashed & overtook them.
(7) Barely 5 minutes after, a white Isuzu pick-up truck travelling from the opposite direction flashed them down & Chokururama pulled out of the road. After stopping, another vehicle (make unknown) with btn 9 & 11 pple made a sudden stop & its occupants suddenly pounced on the 4
(8)They took Chokururama, Nyevhe, Kauzani & Chimedza & threw them into the back of a truck where they continuously assaulted the quartet.Chimedza alleges the 4 were later thrown out of the car one after the other.3 died as a result of the attacks but Chimedza was lucky to survive
(9) After regaining consciousness, Chimedza alleges he staggered to the main road from where he got a lift to Harare. He then got another lift to his home in Domboshava. Early morning on Sunday 15 June 2008, Chimedza alleges the MDC official's driver visited him at his house.
(10) Chimedza alleges that the driver was asking what had happened the previous night & also inquired on the whereabouts of Chokururama, Nyevhe & Kauzani. Chimedza alleges the driver tried in vain to take him to the MDC official's offices at Newlands shopping centre.
11) Chimedza resisted &, instead, opted to travel to Masvingo to inform his parents on what had happened to him.Chimedza later reported the case to the police & also wrote an affidavit dated 27 August 2008 in which he implicated the MDC official & their driver as prime suspects.
(12) Police in Murewa opened a docket CR320/8/2008. Chimedza alleges, in his affidavit, told then MDC Pres, Tsvangirai, that he suspected the MDC official & their driver, in the murder of his 3 colleagues.
(13) A lot of questions arise from the incident. (a) Did the Investigating Officer interview the suspects? (b) Were post-mortems done on the deceased? If so, what was the cause of death? (c) What has become of the investigations?
(14) (d) Did the MDC official, or the driver, make a police report after realising that the people they had sent on an errand did not return? If not, why? (e) Why were the 4 instructed to use Chokururama's car when the MDC official's driver was travelling the same direction?
(15) (f) Why were the 4 allegedly not told their exact destination in the first place?
