America was founded on both the concept of the government deriving sovereignty from its people and legalized white supremacy.

Now, with Trump threatening to mass murder black Americans, we're watching a fire that started in 1787 rage out of control.

The contradictions and paradoxes of the American experiment have threatened to destroy it for centuries. What we're seeing with Trump is a fascist white supremacist authoritarian willing to throw gas on the fire.

And Trump will do it because it's the only thing he knows.
Trump is an authoritarian.

There are predictable cycles.

Authoritarians will create crises or make crises worse. They'll scapegoat vulnerable populations and conspiracies for their failures and demand more power.

We're in the middle of that cycle right now.
Understand this. Trump is president to enforce and protect monied white supremacy. That is who he is and the purpose he serves.

White supremacy is a fascist movement and as it is threatened it destroys democratic institutions and will kill to protect itself.

It's a disease.
It's time to wake. Time to stop parsing our language about Trump and what's happening.

Trump is a fascist authoritarian and America is in a full-blown societal crisis. The time for hand-wringing is over.

Trump's stunt with the Bible was a message to the Cult of the Shining City and the white supremacist Christianity that has taken over the American Right and how it endangers all of us in ways you can't even imagine.

I was raised in this worldview. Millions of Americans were. It's a white identity faith and it teaches followers that America is God's chosen nation and that it is endangered by satanic conspiracies between the Devil, minorities, and American traitors.

The split in religion happened in the Civil Rights Era, when Jerry Falwell and Southern preachers embraced Confederate Christianity that held white supremacy as God's will. It was in response to MLK's protests and it made the faith explicitly racist.

This weekend Trump was exposed as a coward.

We need to talk about authoritarianism and fascism as movements for weak, insecure men, our misconceptions about so-called "strongmen, and how Trump, an eggshell-brittle little man, became a fascist leader.

There is maybe no better metaphor for Trump's weakness than the White House going dark during a national crisis and Trump hiding in a bunker.

It is a perfect encapsulation of who he is: a terrified little man pretending to be strong to the detriment of the entire world.

One of the problems we have in America is that we have long spread false myths about "strongmen" and fascists. We treat them as being too strong, too tough, but the truth is that it's a facade.

They're overcompensating and wearing masculinity as a disguise for their weakness

Like all other strong men, Donald Trump is a coward and soft and terrified. Hiding in the White House and turning off the lights is all on brand. These are insecure, sad little men who build themselves up with the iconography of fascism to hide their fear.
This is what fascism is. The final respite for insecure, sad, pathetic men. Trump is a coward and a tiny, little man. He has created a cruel character, a bully persona, to hide this. But he’s a fraud. A paper tiger. Trump is so small and so insignificant.
And these white terrorist groups are fronts for pathetic men. They can’t operate in the open because they’re cowards. Period. Fascism is the final respite for the pathetic and sad group of men. It isn’t strength, it’s weakness.
