I very much appreciate President @realDonaldTrump’s scathing indictment of the Chinese Communist Party’s historic abuses of Hong Kong’s human rights and democracy and their systemic disregard of the rules of free and fair trade.
President Trump spoke forcefully on behalf of the people of Hong Kong who are becoming victims of the Chinese Communist Party’s complete disdain for the rule of law.
It is my hope that Congress, in working with the President, will come up with a series of sanctions that will be strong enough to change Chinese behavior and restore the rule of law in Hong Kong.
It is sad to see the European Union’s pathetic and weak response towards CCP aggression against Hong Kong.
As to withdrawing from the WHO, I fully understand the President’s frustrations with the organization, particularly with the fact that they’ve become Chinese apologists. President Trump’s strong statements today must be met with strong action.
I’m hoping that Congress, in a bipartisan fashion, working with the administration will promptly deliver these actions.
