I used to literally be a Constitutional Scholar

The institutional disenfranchisement & the violent reactions of the people rioting right now? Not that great

The institutional disenfranchisement & the violent reaction of the people who wrote the Constitution? Not that different
The First Amendment to the Constitution was to peacefully assemble, aka get together, get mad, and get you voices heard. This was put in because when the colonists tried to do that here in Boston, they were shot.

If only the Redcoats had tear gas, amirite?
The Second Amendment (that some people love so much) was because the local law enforcement with their red coats made the colonists feel unsafe. The ability to well form a militia in the case the local law enforcement acted corrupt was essential to the safety of the colonists
The Third Amendment is to prevent the military from staying at your home and taking your stuff, because the last military (who were also local law enforcement in their red coats) stayed at the colonists' homes and seized their assets.
The Fourth Amendment was to prevent unnecessary & unwarranted searches of people & homes, because the local law enforcement in their red coats routinely searched colonists and took their stuff. Because… no one said they couldn't?
The Fifth Amendment is primarily about not being "deprived of LIFE, liberty, or property, without due process of law". You know, not be killed by their local law enforcement in their red coats?
The Sixth Amendment is about getting a fair trial. Because the people in charge of the Law, while not wearing red coats but definitely loyal to the same cause as the red coat, would often declare someone guilty just because of the way they looked. By that I mean not 'red coated'
The Seventh Amendment… is about $20. No really, look it up. I mean, the amendment has itself been amended and reexamined since, but it's basically about setting the minimum standard for what requires a trial. But $20 sounds familiar…
The Eighth Amendment is where they say the whole bit about not having cruel and unusual punishment. Like being in a situation where you can't breath.
The Ninth Amendment is about how all of these rights are applied equally, so your rights can't disenfranchise someone else's rights and vice versa. So really, anyone can walk in the park as long as they're not hurting anyone and following the rules. Like dog leashes.
The Tenth Amendment is about how anything not covered in the Constitution is left to the states to decide. A bulwark against any tyranny by an idiotic executive branch. Not that the US would ever have an idiotic president pretending to be a tyrant.
So yeah. If you're angry right now? Be angry. It is literally the most American thing you can do right now to be angry. Things need to change, tea needs to be thrown into harbors, and the people in charge need to be held accountable for their uneven distribution of Justice.
