ppl really need to do deeper readings on MLK, he wasn't some calm peaceful protestor who hated violence... there's a reason why his more "radical" side isn't taught in school, they want it to be erased.
nonviolent protesting is a tactic that only works in certain circumstances, if ppl are willing to kill you then im sorry you cant just expect those "oppressed" to just be like yeah imma march peacefully
also lol its not even like deeper readings... it's just read more than the quotes on goodreads and google image search
ppl (white ppl) are like terrified when you bring up malcom
but MLK was militant in his own ways and started to become even more so towards the end of his life. and he wasnt against looting and rioting apa.org/monitor/featur…
end of his life bc he was assassinated. like come on ppl. he was not some "well behaved" man
i grew up going to protests real little, my dad was a community organizer, ppl dont understand how much planning often goes into even the smallest thing, into something that looks unorganized like a riot.
give ppl some respect for risking their lives to make a point we shouldnt have to keep making.
and thats the thing about mlk... the younger generation was fucking furious bc they saw that things werent really changing and he saw it too, he respected that, and he supported them. leave him out of your damn mouths.
and listen im not stupid, the chances these ppl are gonna change = slim. but there are those of you who follow me who are well meaning who dont know this, you have to educate yourselves, to create action, you have to be the ones to talk to your neighbors and relatives...not us.
