In America you can’t vote if you have a felony. You can’t vote if you aren’t registered to vote. You can’t register to vote if you haven’t voted for a few years (Georgia). You cant register to vote if you don’t have a proper ID. You can’t vote if your job won’t give you time off.
Following Obama’s election many states purged eligible voters or a number of reasons. US Presidential elections are dodgy because of the “electoral college” system that is far from democratic. Access to polling centers is an issue for people with limited access to transportation
Everyone, including colored people, who keep telling others that they should use the system to fight back and now is the time to go to the polls and vote and all of this other nonsense should just stay home and stay out of the way. Voting won’t fix America’s racism disease.
I was born & raised in USA & lived there for 25 years before I left & breathed a breath of fresh air without being judged because my name is “Obaida” & not “Jack”. I have light skin & my mom is “white” but b/c i’m Muslim & my mom covers her head, & my dad’s Syrian = “not white”
I took all the public school history lessons on how America was founded and built. But they never taught us how racist the founding fathers were. They all had slaves. The country was founded on racist principles and ideals - not all men created equal - only white men.
People still searching for the light at the end of the tunnel hoping that colored people will be treated equal to white people in America need to wake up. The system is rigged. America was made for the white man to exploit the colored people of the world.
People flock to the US giving it everything and white people reap the benefits while immigrants - almost all colored people are simply statistics. Its not hard to recognize if you just open your eyes. And anyone who wants to use Elon Musk as an rebuttal to my argument can shut up
There is an elitist club in the US. And only a few sit at that table. It makes no sense that in a time of crisis Amazon CEO can increase his wealth by billions of $ while 40 million Americans lose their jobs and the gov’t chalks it up to free market capitalism that kids go hungry
If private citizens can send people into space - which requires billions $ of investment then feeding hungry people, sheltering the homeless, and treating people with justice and equality should be easy things to accomplish. But that’s just not the case.
In America if you’re not “white” - like George Washington white - then you have to be afraid for your life every single day. You can’t go about your day free of fear or anxiety. You have to worry about the police stopping you randomly and harassing you.
You have to worry about your rights being violated. Actually you don’t have any rights at all. You only have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney - if you can afford one.
If not, after the police pepper spray you & beat you & break your spirit, they might let you speak to one in a day or two or more. If you ever make it out, it’ll follow you for the rest of your life & you won’t be considered an upstanding citizen - just another colored criminal.
I was beaten & jailed by a racist police officer at 15 y/o & suffered a broken neck & had major surgery to fix it. I suffered immense amounts of trauma & psychological stress because of that. The event changed the course of my entire life. I can relate to George Floyd.
Watching all of this play out more than 15 years later only brings back traumatic memories so vividly. It’s unfortunate that some people of color feel the need to appease the “white privilige” and trust the system. FYI - the system is working for whites because of people like you
