@samuelawillis2 I was involved in educational events in the 2016 ref, always featuring both sides. It was an exceptionally hard atmosphere in which to do that. It was a collision between entirely different world views, & any claim by the other side was assumed to be a lie with malicious intent.
@samuelawillis2 I think it's true things grew even more toxic afterwards, because there was no consensus on any specific version of Brexit. Almost anything - supporting May's deal, opposing May's deal, wanting a referendum, opposing a referendum - cd be seen as defying "the will of the People".
@samuelawillis2 No side emerged with a lot of credit from that period. But it wasn't "pro-EU activists" who denounced "enemies of the people" and "citizens of nowhere", who accused their opponents of treason, or who promised to "crush the saboteurs".
