So hearing a lot of buzz on boycotting Chinese products. May be going local and supporting local business may definitely help boost to some extent the Indian economy however let's look at how deep China is embedded into Indian system.
1/n
Starting with Chinese investment into Indian businesses include Big Basket, Byju’s, Delhivery, Dream 11, Flipkart, Hike, MakeMyTrip, Ola, Oyo, Paytm, Paytm Mall, PolicyBazzar, Quikr, Rivigo, Snapdeal, Swiggy, Uddan, Zomato are some where Chinese companies hold stake. 2/n
Coming to the above companies, will you boycott these companies too? Due to boycott, these companies hv to shutdown, imagine the job losses of Indian employees.. Now Will you ask these companies buy back their stake from Chinese investors?
3/n
Now look at the Chinese Phone companies like Vivo, Oppo? Does anyone of you use these phones?
How has most of India managed to have affordable smartphones in their hand?
How many Indians work in these companies? 4/n
Even Micromax (Indian Co) which I believe no longer sells phones had to source internals from China.
What are your alternatives? Apple?
Now let's come to Cellphone infrastructure...
5/n
For all People using cellphones.. Have you thought who supplies most of the infrastructure to Indian cellphone companies like towers, routers, switches.. Yes the Chinese company Huawei.. Boycott talking on using cellphone too?
6/n
Coming to Automobiles..
Eg: Do you know the MG Hector car is owned by Morris Garage which may not be a Chinese Brand but ultimately owned by a Chinese Company - SAIC Motor.. So why not boycott that too?
7/n
The point here being meree boycott of products will not help the economy. The Govt needs to create a conducive environment to help startups, entrepreneurs, provide the right technology, support and a platform where innovation is given full support.
8/n
This should have been done a long time ago but hasn't happened. Hence talent moves out of India. Why do Indian companies/startups have to look for Foreign investors for their idea when some of the richest billionaires reside in India?
9/n
A lot of this would mean encouragement 4m Govt, easing rules and restrictions 4 these startups, businesses providing a conducive environment 2 thrive, supporting them. Merely boycotting will not make us Self reliant. Our products need to be world class to compete.
10/n
Hence it may be easy to say boycott Chinese products but who draws the line which ones to boycott and which ones to not? The actual implementation may be far difficult.

Would like to know your thoughts.
