I want a necessary good.
The existing institution is unsalvageable. I say that not b/c I don't believe in democratic government, but b/c an inherently fascist institution is inherently incomparable with government.
We need just laws. We need citizens protected from those who'd break just laws.
We don't have that now.
Think of how many times we "need" police because there is a social imbalance, and fixing it would be costly, and so we prefer to use violence to control.
Those of us currently unaffected by, even benefiting from, our present system, need to be willing to pay the cost
You want to fix this? Fix your spirit.
Fixing your spirit means not believing in necessary evils.
Fixing your spirit means paying the cost.
Fix the spirit, fix the world.
We certainly don't need what we have now. We have an institution that would wage war against our fellow citizens, our brothers and sisters.

We "need" this? We don't. We allowed it. We need to end it.
Who used the systems of law instead of the power of the boot.
If we had that, then we'd know we had rethought the police.
