Come prepared (comfortable clothes, flags, signs, bandana, goggles, gas masks, water, snacks etc.) and stick with a crew.
In Chile, Italy and other countries protesters bring things like shields, helmets and hard hats to protect themselves from rubber bullets, water cannons and others repressive means the police use on protesters.
In Chile, to slow down riot police from charging on protesters, they started using laser pointers.
In Turkey, to neutralize tear gas protesters would catch it with fireproof gloves and put it in buckets or jugs filled with water.
In Chile, aside from wearing masks and hoodies to dodge surveillance, protesters also work together to take down cameras.
