I met Asif Farrukhi sb only a few times.
I had picked up the last vol (no.48) of his magazine Dunya Zadدنیا زاد from a bookshop after the lockdown was eased last month. Mainly because it carried Asif sb's memoir on Fehmida Riaz, and his translations of Toni Morrison's poems.

As I skimmed through the vol I thought it would be good to read it before meeting him next time. I recalled how fondly he had remembered Fehmida Riaz.
But there will be no next time. Death and destruction keep reminding us how precarious life is.
He ends the memoir like this
2/
Toni Morrison's poems which he has translated are

Someone leans near,
It comes unadorned, and
I am not seaworthy.

The translations are worth reading
