Set up by NYPD..

Two guns.

Barricaded in his apartment, boxed in with nowhere to go.

Handed six officers shots to the face, jumped out the window and had NYC on lockdown for days.

Made it out alive..

BEAT THE CASE.

Thread below. @_ValTown_
Larry Davis was born and raised in the South Bronx while that part of the Bronx was tallying at least 200 plus murders a year. The Bronx was neglected.

Reagan in the South Bronx, made matters worse.
Larry was loved in the neighborhood as he came up Dj’ing parties and being one of the first with a sound system in his area.
Throughout the late 70’s he was doing the Dj thing, while doing other petty crimes to make cash because no one was making money from Hip-Hop at the time.

South Bronx in the 70’s.
According to Larry, he was selling drugs for the police since he was 15, and his nephew claimed to see Larry have at least a million dollars in dirty cop money from hustling for them.

Two NYPD officers on the Subway in the 80’s.
In 1986 Larry was a prime suspect in a robbery and murder of four local drug dealers. They were murdered execution style.
In October of 1986 Larry was questioned for the murders even though there was no real solid evidence at the moment pinning him to the crime.
Out of frustration NYPD went to Larry’s mother house and said “We want Larry Davis”, she said “I don’t know where he is”. In response they said “You tell him he’s gonna get a bullet right up on his forehead”.
Weeks later, Larry was found at his sister’s apartment with his then girlfriend, his infant child and his sister along with her kids. NYPD went through the apartment door and ran towards the back where Larry was. Larry told them don’t shoot and they started shooting immediately.
Larry had a .45 in one hand and a shotgun in the other hand, he shot back. Wounding six officers, all of them receiving shots to the face. One of the bullets from the exchange broke the lock to another apartment door, where Larry was able to escape from.
NYPD offered $25,000 to anyone that could give them a leading tip as to where Larry was. Larry’s family was known well, his mother took in homeless children and Larry was like a brother to them. He didn’t even have to leave The Bronx when he was on the run.
Every time investigators thought they knew where Larry was, by the time they got to his supposed location Larry was gone. They couldn’t catch the guy for three weeks.
Larry knew if they caught him he would be murdered so he said the only way he’s turning himself in is if cameras were present. When NYPD came to arrest him the whole neighborhood was chanting Larry’s name.
In December 1987, Larry went on trial for the murder of those dealers. It was then he revealed to them about his work with the police, selling drugs for them since he was 15 and that since he wanted out they wanted him in prison or dead so he wouldn’t speak out.
This was never “confirmed” but what Larry said wasn’t too far fetched from things that actually happened in the city during the Crack era. Just the facts.
Larry was found not guilty in the four murders of the drug dealers. He claimed self defense in his trial against NYPD, and in ballistic reports it shown that it was indeed NYPD that shot at him first; helping his case.
Larry was acquitted of the police shootings, only got convicted of gun possession.
Larry’s time in Rikers Island was hell, beaten by the CO’s, feces in his food, wasn’t allowed to shower, things that were bound to happen to him in there.
Larry then had to go back to court for another 1986 murder case of another drug dealer and got acquitted.. AGAIN.
After that case another 1986 case came up again and this time he was found guilty, sentenced to 25 years. Larry would later die in prison.
