As per Sarkaria commission report :

When Karunanidhi was PWD minister 27000 gunny bags of sugar went missing

The judge asked Karunanidhi " what happened to 27000 bags of sugar ? "

Karunanidhi : ants ate the 27000 bags of sugar 😀😀😀
Upon hearing this both the judge and Public prosecutor virtually got heart attack 😀

Next day the judge tutored PP to ask this question to Karunanidhi

PP : Mr Karunanidhi you said ants ate the 27000 bags of sugar, tell me what happened to the 27000 gunny bags which had sugar ?
Karunanidhi : Termites ate the 27000 gunny bags , thats why ants ate the 27000 bags of sugar

Judge and PP were speechless

Thats when sarkaria coined the term " Scientific thieves"
