I understand that the police must be frightened, demoralized, exhausted, and deeply upset. I would be, in their shoes. But the reports of extreme behavior are so widespread--and it's so counter-productive to behave this way--that I can't get my head around it.
Why are they behaving like thugs even though they know they're being filmed? Even though the entire country is in an uproar about police abuse? Even though it's sure to be reported in the news and very likely to cause problems for them?
Why is their behavior so unprofessional? Why are they swearing and insulting people?
