Since a friend was intrigued about the role of Fairies in northern cultures.

Here’s a small thread on the true story of the man in our village who was, apparently, abducted and then married to a fairy.
For those of you who don’t know, fairies play a large part in the folklore of northern Pakistan mainly in the Dardic ethnicities. Chitralis believe the Terich Mir mountain of Chitral, the highest of the Hindu Kush range, is Koh i Kaaf and thus the homeland of fairies.
There was this man that used to live in our village who quite old of age. He had young children who were most probably also married and was the head of his family.

(Picture is not of him)
One night, the entire family went peacefully to sleep. Their awakening at morn however wasn’t as peaceful as someone noticed that their father was missing and screamed. The entire family went into panic. They left their houses to search for him.
It was difficult to understand how the old man left the house without making any noise and more so how he’d manage to evade the attention of the entire village when leaving since he’d have to cross a mound, a village and a river to reach the main road.
The family returned exhausted not understanding what had happened to their father. Battling the villagers theories over how the old man in his lunacy had run away or jumped in the river or even that they themselves had disposed him off, they busied themselves.
Hours turned into days and days into weeks. And then on one such night just as abruptly the old man had vanished, he reappeared on his bed. The next morning marked a lot of noise and hustle in the village and a lot of theories were again given birth.
When he was finally asked the big question, the old man meekly informed them that he had been abducted by fairies and taken to Koh i Kaaf where he got married to one and lived with her.
This ofc set a layer of laughter in the village for days to come.
Everyone mocked the old man wondering why a fairy would choose a person who’s legs are dangling in the grave.
People laughed and forgot and life turned to normal again. Days again turned to weeks and weeks now to years, and one evening the old man’s soul departed from the world.
The next day many people attended the “fairy lover’s” funeral, many remembering his sojourn with the supernatural when suddenly 3 men walked in. The young men were extremely handsome from what I’ve heard, tall and beautiful with looks befitting kings.
It was peculiar that unknown men would visit him, more peculiar was that no one saw them enter the village.
After they had payed their respects and things were done, someone approached them to inquire how they knew the old man. A question that stunned the gathering.
They young men replied that they were his children. Their mother was a fairy and the man was their father. That was all that they revealed before just as suddenly that they had appeared, the men vanished in thin air. Leaving behind nothing but cries, whispers and a beautiful tale
