UPDATE: @MilwaukeePolice share 48 seconds of edited body camera video which shows objects being thrown at police. Yet, none of these objects are on fire or show a flame as a Molotov cocktail would. @WISN12News m.youtube.com/watch?v=H01nZK…
@MilwaukeePolice @WISN12News Also, after watching the video several times, the object highlighted by @MilwaukeePolice in this edited video as an incoming object, (center bottom of screen) actually came from the officer's own weapon and fell to the ground. @WISN12News Image
@MilwaukeePolice @WISN12News The date on the body camera is inaccurate. The date @MilwaukeePolice made this claim was June 2. MPD also said Molotovs were thrown at 8:08pm. Converting the timecode in these MPD edited clips is 7:27 and 7:28pm @WISN12News Image
NEW: The original link to this edited video by @MilwaukeePolice has now been taken down, minutes after myself and other journalists pointed out inaccuracies. @WISN12News ImageImage
@MilwaukeePolice have now uploaded a new edited clip to youtube. This one is 52 seconds and they no longer highlight a spent cartridge from an officer's weapon as something thrown at officers. @WISN12News ImageImage
Also, @MilwaukeePolice sent us a new press release, with a time that matches the conversion of the timecode from the body cameras. The time in the new release, however, does not match the time the department provided in the original release. @WISN12News ImageImage
.@MilwaukeePolice tweeted an updated time of the incident from June 2. I don't know why the department poins out when they downloaded the video. @WISN12News Image
The language in how this event is described by @MilwaukeePolice changed multiple times. @WISN12News 1. Molotov cocktails 2. molotov cocktail 3. objects ImageImageImageImage
@MilwaukeePolice @WISN12News @dwiebe99 The department posted a new edited video. See full thread.
