Thanks to everyone who read and shared this story. I learned so much while reporting it and I want to share some other relevant writing for folks who want to read more about the issues in my piece.

This piece by @brianvastag and @rndNumGen goes deeper into the overlap between covid long-haulers and ME/CFS, and on research into that overlap.

This essay by @felicitycallard, one of the long-haulers in my piece, on what “mild” means and how it’s used, is just a fantastic piece of scholarship. Highly recommended.

.@fi_lowenstein who founded the Body Politic Slack support group has written some great pieces; track down all of them but start with this one on relapses

.@LoisParshley wrote a great piece on long-term Covid complications a full month ago.

.@MaraGay’s op/ed on her own covid experience was an eye-opener.

And the entire Body Politic research team’s survey of long-haulers is so invaluable and a great example of patient-led research *for patients*

And finally, no single work has more deeply changed my understanding of chronic illnesses than THE LADY’S HANDBOOK FOR HER MYSTERIOUS ILLNESS by @sarahmarieramey (@wolflarsenmusic). It is hilarious, heartbreaking, and *so* well written.

(The book came out in March; I would add that having the entire promotional campaign for a book about mysterious chronic illnesses be cancelled because of a pandemic that is now causing a wave of very similar illness is... very 2020.)
