Biden’s quote was pretty nuanced—and thoughtful. The @nytimes pulling this chunk is a good indication of how their reporting is gonna go. Which is to say, it’s going to be frequently bad— again.
Here’s what he said (thx @ArgoJournal:)
“Do we really think this is as good as we can be as a nation? I don’t think the vast majority of ppl think that...There are..10 to 15% of the ppl..that are just not very good ppl, but that’s not who we are. The vast majority...are decent,
... and we have to appeal to that &..unite people”
So the headline and the pullquote could say “Biden calls for Unity”. Or “Biden says Overwhelming Number of People Are Good”...
Or “Biden Thinks We Can Be Better As A Nation”

Remember these are the folks who ran with the “Trump Calls For Unity VS Racism” headline after the President managed to read off a teleprompter in the wake of a massshooting. His tweeting had been racist and divisive.
So let’s ask ourselves why the @nytimes does this. Consistently?
I would really hope those correspondents who do gymnastics to present Trunp as “weighing” issues, or “changing his thinking” when there’s been 3+ years of no evidence of that, would do a better job giving context to others’ quotes.
Please do better.
