EU official also clarifies the issue of flexibilities in applying checks and controls on goods coming from GB as per the NI Protocol:
2/ During his news conference @MichelBarnier said NI supermarkets could avail of simplified declarations on containers of goods moving in from GB.
3/ EU official says if there are any goods coming in for "exclusive consumption" in NI (ie not crossing the border), the Joint Committee will determine the criteria "under which these kinds of products...would be exempted from the tariffs that would in other cases be applied."

Quick Dutch response to the Commission’s €750bn rescue fund. Dutch diplomat says: Our position is well known: The starting point is that the Netherlands is willing to help and wants to cooperate on a European level to fight the crisis.
2/ We want to do this in a way that strengthens member states and the EU as a whole. The current proposals are fresh off the press. Given the size of the package, it is too early for a substantive analysis.
3/ In that analysis the principles lined out in the non-paper of NL Aus, Sweden & Denmark will be leading (a modern EU budget, temporary, loans for loans, no mutualisation of debt, reforms).

Update on reports that the EU is prepared to drop its "maximalist" approach to fisheries, a sector which is proving a key stumbling block in the future relationship negotiations (remember, the EU has said if there's no fisheries deal, there's no free trade deal...)
