Allow me to introduce you to Donalsonville, GA. Population 61% Black, where 2 candidates are running for mayor: 1 Black, 1 White. Thread 1/ 
White candidate, Mitzy Moye, allegedly created a fake facebook page of a fake Black person named “Shanice Williams”... 2/
... to give the impression she has Black support.
The fake page includes candidate Mitzy having a whole conversation w/ “shanice”. 3/

Apparently they’re such good friends that Mitzy greets Shanice with “Sista you are looking good” 😑. 4/
Turns out that Shanice’s photo is a stock photo. Google “Black girl pictures” and you too can create a fake a Black friend! 5/
When actual, real-world, living Black folks in Donalsonville figured out that “Shanice” doesn’t exist, the page was taken down. 6/
Tactics like these aren’t isolated incidents in smaller, rural communities. They’re not as oppressive as other forms of voter suppression 7/
...and obviously not as deadly as the police violence that folks across the country are currently protesting. 8/
But these tactics are part of the overlapping strategies designed to keep Black folks in our place, to dilute our power... 9/
...and to keep us from seeing that some folks pretending to be our “friends” are actually playing us for fools. 10/
