Been looking at pvt hospital bills... What strikes me is...

... the precision with which they charge Rs 4500 for the RTPCR COVID test. Not one Rs more, so they are compliant with the gov. But they sure won't charge one Rs less either!

And then we expect "self regulation"?
In general: Private sector billing seems very arbitrary. Even among (what I think are) comparable hospitals, prices for the same things can be very different.
Anyway: If you have good health today, be really thankful. You dont want to see the breakup of these bills. Whether these prices are rightful or wrongful... you dont want to be paying this kind of $$.
Looking @ bill where patient was in hosp 30 days, billed Rs 11,600/day for ICU monitoring, apart from expensive daily ICU charges.

My Q to doc @ that hosp: Pvt sector says theyre doing best on these prices... but how is it that public sector just totally absorbs the same cost?
When FICCI says pvt hospitals wanna "self regulate," this is what they mean: ImageImageImage
So we are to believe the public sector just absorbs these prices... and that the private sector is offerring us the "best rates possible"?

This is robbery.
In my prev story, @Bhupendra_IAS explained that price of hospital treatment can be capped by *state govs.*

Now see how Tamil Nadu gov has capped the price --->

Check it out:
Tamil Nadu capped prices of hospital treatment and even the RTPCR test!
