In fact, it is critical that we do so--this is vital public health information--and I fear there is a real risk that public health authorities won't, for fear of getting the "wrong" answer.
More broadly, if a bunch of people get sick from going to protests, and that becomes obvious as the second wave of outbreaks takes off, it will not be possible to say that this is all the fault of the police.
That is, you can say it, but politically, I doubt it will work outside of the folks who already agree with you, and it certainly won't convince the people who are angry about the double standards for communal activity to go back inside.
In part because public health experts said so little about optimal police tactics, or for that matter optimal protesting tactics, when the protests were in their most active phase; it is hard to retroactively blame the police for something you didn't press at the time.
