On rich and poor in Chile.

The graph here shows the position of Chilean income percentiles, from poorest to richest, in global income distribution.
(Income=household per capita disposable, after-tax, income.)
It shows that the poorest four Chilean income percentiles are located between 17th and 29th global percentile. This is exactly the same position and income of the poorest 1-5 percentiles in Mongolia.
If you look at the top of the Chilean income distribution, you notice that the two top percentiles are both part of the global top 1 percent.

Chile is the only country in Latin America where *both* two top percentiles are in the global top 1 percent.
This is the same income (and global position) as the top of the German income distribution.

This is why the poorest Chileans are as poor as the *poorest* Mongolians (not an *average* Mongolian) & the richest Chilean are as rich as the *richest* Germans (not an average German)
(Data from my forthcoming paper on global income distribution after the financial crisis.)
