Things that a broadway adaptation of Tangled could do that would be perfect: a thread.

-the show would open in the tower and stay there until Rapunzel leaves for the first time. It would begin right on “when will my life begin”
-the order of the first few songs would be switched around so that gothel only comes to and leaves the tower once that day

-that order:
•”when will my life begin”
•Flynn entering the tower. Rapunzel hides. He would have an added song to introduce himself, basically him singing egotistically and charmingly to the crown, and his last note would be cut off by Rapunzel hitting him with the frying pan.

•Rapunzel hides him and gothel shows up for the first time and sings “mother knows best”
•jump to Rapunzel asking Gothel to take her to see the floating lights & tries to show her she can handle herself. This part is like the movie and gothel leaves to go get shells for her.

-“when will my life begin reprise” as Rapunzel jumps from the tower the set opens up and changes to the forrest and it is a GLORIOUS scene change. I’d cry.
-an added cute lil’ number with the guards. Stan & Pete would be added from the series. A comedy number. Gives the rapunzel

actress a second to drink some water.
-“I’ve got a dream” would be extended with a dance break in the middle ft. Rapunzel encouraging all the thugs & making Flynn dance with them. They’d have a cute lil awkward dancing duet where he first starts to realize his feelings for her.

-instead of Gothel assuming Rapunzel has been taken from Max and going back to the tower, we instead see her find Rapunzel and Eugene at the snuggly ducking/the chase after. She meets up with the Stabbingtons there who are looking for Eugene.

-the bit where they break the dam & are getting chased in there would be changed to something easier achieved on stage. Open to suggestions. But would eventually lead them to..
-THE FIRE PIT SCENE I love this scene.
-this scene would be extended with lots of backstory & bonding

between Eugene and Rapunzel. There would be an added song between them, mostly Eugene’s backstory with Rapunzel joining in at the end. Very tender. Very🥺 think “for forever” (except he’s not lying lol) or “me and the sky” vibes.

-“mother knows best (reprise)” is the act 1 finale because THE POWER THAT NUMBER HOLDS IS SPECTACULAR. LEAVES ME SHAKING IN AWE.
-intermission.
-the “kingdom dance” sequence opens act 2. It would be extended a little bit just for funsies cause it’s the best part of the show. The

dancing would be legendary & Rapunzel & Eugene would be so obviously falling in love & it’s PERFECT.
-there would be some added sung lyrics at the beginning of kingdom dance for Eugene and Rapunzel, and then some big ensemble singing, and then the DANCE.
-Eugene tells Rapunzel

he’s got a surprise for her, and they exit to go to the boats.
-this transitions to the King and Queen who have been watching the celebration below. They have a duet about losing their daughter that makes you SOB & at the end they light their lantern.

-we then go to Eugene and Rapunzel on the boat. “I see the light” This scene remains untouched. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE LANTERNS LIGHTING UP THE WHOLE THEATRE AND SEEING THEM LIGHT UP ALL OVER THE HOUSE?!! I’D SOB!!!
-at the end of the song they kiss. muhahaha take that, Stabbingtons

-the bit with the Stabbingtons telling Eugene they want Rapunzel would overlap with Gothel coming to Rapunzel. An added song, an EPIC QUINTET with Eugene fighting for Rapunzel’s life w/ the Stabbingtons & Gothel trying to convince Rapunzel he’s run off & doesn’t love her.

-the song ends with the brothers knocking Eugene out, Gothel makes her point showing Rapunzel that he has left on the boat with the crown. She takes a heart-broken Rapunzel back to the tower before the Stabbingtons can find them.
-an added duet for Eugene & Rapunzel which is

a revised version of “if I could take this moment back” from the series, changing the lyrics ever so slightly. Takes place with him in his jail cell and her in the tower.
-this is followed by the thugs helping Eugene escape w/ Stan & Pete standing guard very poorly. A short

reprise of the silly guard song as Eugene escapes without them seeing.

-we’re back in the tower and we have an epic duet between Rapunzel & Gothel as she discovers that she is the lost princess.
-we then physically see Gothel restrain Rapunzel with the chains—which BREAKS OUR HEARTS and is very hard to watch—as they hear Eugene calling for her.

-Gothel stabbing Eugene, Rapunzel healing him, and him cutting off her hair w/ gothel falling out the window remains the same, as well as Rapunzel healing him with her tears. HE’S ALIVE AND THEY KISS AND WE ARE VERY HAPPY YAY!!

-we then transition back to the kingdom square for the finale. We see the iconic moment where rapunzel is reunited with her family & they pull Eugene in for the hug
-the finale! A revised version of “happily ever after after all” which is also the finale of the series. THE END!!
