Cancel country music & the military?

“The music,” @JM_Thompson writes, “retains a reputation as a genre made by & for white Southerners.”

The military should thus drop it from recruitment events.

I asked a USMIL recruiter — a gay Latino — for his response.

Here’s what he said Image
“That’s dumb.”

The USMIL uses different genres of music when trying to reach different recruits, he explained.

“All depends on place and market we target. At car races, we use pop and country, for example.”

“You mold to your market.”
So what does he play for prospective black or Latino recruits?

“I can play anything for that market. We do a mix of country / pop / Latin / hip hop.”

The gay Latino soldier added: “My people dance and get hyped to anything. Lol.”
But what of the allegation that country music is made by and for white Southerners?

“I have always listened to country.”

He continued, “There are great Black singers.”

Kane Brown is his favorite.
“Look, racism is real and prevalent,” he added, “but I hate that people make these crazy connections to try and prove something that’s not there.”

“It takes away from the real fight and issues.”
Upshot: A gay Latino soldier can see what’s really happening.

People like @JM_Thompson are using tropes and bigoted stereotypes of anyone or anything — country music lovers, in this case — to push a narrative:

“White America” is bad.

It must be dismantled.
It’s a shame facts don’t matter anymore.

Because if they did, Prof. Thompson would admit that country music is a growing genre, fueled by people of color & the young.

Just ask the Country Music Assn, if you don’t believe the gay Latino soldier.

Bottom line: Prof @JM_Thompson is trying to destroy America. Our music. Our military.

He’s a race baiter, advancing his bigoted cause under the lie of social justice.

Retract your essay, Thompson.

Resign from @msstate.

Mississippi deserves better.

America deserves better.

As Washington DC votes to send Ukraine billions more in war aid, let’s talk about what they’re not telling you:

The War is Lost.

Here’s what we know. 🧵
Corruption remains endemic in Ukraine.

Consider this from Zelenskyy’s office last winter: Image
But even if the war materiel doesn’t get stolen or aid taken, there’s a bigger problem:

The US weapons won’t matter because there are too few Ukrainian troops to use them.

The rural men have already been largely slaughtered and urban men are hiding / have fled to Europe. Image

If you've been vaccinated for COVID, here's some news:

You are 2x / 3x more likely to get infected with COVID than someone who's unvaccinated with natural immunity.

That's a finding from a study of 260K+ people in Indiana, out last Wednesday.
If your child is vaccinated, their immunity from COVID is "considerably less" than kids with natural immunity.
Despite this, the researchers suggest that everyone get vaccinated.

Why? Well, the data allegedly show that vaccinated people end up in the hospital / ER less than the unvaccinated. Ah, but not for COVID-related issues. "All-cause health events," they say.

At the WH today, Jen Psaki again crowed that the West has crushed the Russian economy.

"Hooray!" you might say.

But if that's your only response, you don't understand the gravity of this moment.

We have declared war on Russia. Are we ready for that?

No. Let me explain.
Whether you think sanctions against Russia are good or bad is irrelevant.

What matters is what Putin thinks. And how he'll respond.
Last Saturday (and again Tuesday), Putin and his regime said clearly that they consider the West's sanctions as a declaration of war.

And that's true. They are. We have.

No, America should not bomb the Russian convoy approaching Kyiv.

The reason? Spies. In DC.

Let me explain.
To blow up the convoy, America obviously cannot use an overt approach — eg: firing up some A10s listening to Kenny Loggins as they light up some Russians.

That would be a declaration of war. Obviously.
So POTUS would have to lean on the spies and clandestine military operators for a secret operation.

But can they keep that secret?

What are the chances that Russia or their allies — namely China — find out?

Because if they do, it’s WWIII.

Former CIA guy here.

I’m seeing lots of reports saying “US intelligence says,” and related frothy assessments on Ukraine & Russia.

Here’s why you should be skeptical, and ask questions.
First, where’s the raw intel from?

If human (HUMINT), is it just one person? Multiple people? When did they get the info? Where? How? Have they been vetted? If so, to what extent?

Don’t just assume the CIA / IC knows all this.

Look up “CURVEBALL” and you’ll understand why.
If signals (SIGINT), is it one stream (email) or many (phone, text, etc)? Did native speakers do the translation? Has the info been corroborated by other sources of intel?

Are the targets aware they’re likely being monitored?

Disinformation must be ruled out.

We’re a few days into the Russia / Ukraine war.

Here’s what I see.
Putin’s fundamental calculus hasn’t changed:

The West is weak — mil & economically. Europe desperately needs his oil & gas. That won’t change for years.

Sanctions are uncomfortable but bearable. He saw more coming, and planned for it.

Ukraine is (still) ripe for the taking.
Putin’s most critical partner — China — remains on board.

The West’s pressure campaign on Beijing is a joke. Biden & Co are corrupt & have little leverage.

Xi will continue to watch, and look for ways to benefit.

Taking Taiwan is tantalizing. But premature as of now.
