I made the 1.75-mile lap around White House grounds this morning. Crews have begun the process of removing some of the fencing that went up last week. Here’s some of what I saw:
On H St., the fencing has become a gathering place for protesters, who have decorated the fencing with signs. Some of the signs were moved to scaffolding across the street. Per USSS, there are “continuing discussions” with Park Police re: temp fencing in and around Lafayette Park 
The cleanup process is underway - crews with torches cleaning metal statues in Lafayette Park and men in neon uniforms and masks pressure washing graffiti off the side of the vandalized Treasury Department building
Some concrete barriers behind the metal fencing have been removed on 15th Street, and the barrier transfer machine had rounded the corner, removing the barriers on Constitution Ave.
Fencing at the intersection of 17th and Pennsylvania Ave. remains intact. On that fence, yellow caution tape — “CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS.” It’s not clear whether that tape is official or a sign of protest.
