Interestingly and not at all irrelevant is this incredible passage. White liberals decide unanimously to expel the schools police. The black students who love the black police officer are crushed: 
I keep thinking about the one white woman seeking permission to say what she knows: that the violence and looting is not right. She has none of the self-confidence, or, yes, "moral clarity," of this woman here, who has a hard life but is far from decadent:
There is a childishness to the exhausted position. Whereas the woman above is an adult.
