A thread on PTERYGIUM ImageImage
A pterygium is a triangular or wedge shaped growth that develops on the conjunctiva of the eye and grows onto the cornea.

Pterygium is not harmful, but can cause eye irritation and changes in vision.

Some people refer to pterygium as “surfer’s eye,” because it often affect people who spend lots of time in the sun (like sey na sign of hustle).

However, pterygium can also develop as a result of eye irritation from wind, dust, smoke or dirt.

Stop smoking you eye, its not suya.
Pterygium may grow in one or both eyes.

In the early stages, a pterygium may not be noticeable.
It is also unlikely to cause any discomfort or changes in vision, but if it continues to grow, however, it may become more visible.
It will typically appear fleshy and triangular, it may be red, pink, or yellow.

They may also experience:

redness of the conjunctiva, itching, dryness, and burning sensation in one or both eye and sand or gritty sensation in the eye.

Ha! very disturbing.
If the growth spreads to the cornea and to the center of the eye, blocking part of the pupil, the person may experience blurred vision.

If you experience any of these symptom, please see an eye DOCTOR.

Typically, an eye doctor will use an eye exam to diagnose a pterygium.
If the pterygium is small, causes bothersome symptoms and doesn't Obstruct vision, the person may require prescription medications.

If the pterygium becomes larger and obstructs vision however, the person may require surgery (minor) and you beautiful clear eyes will be back.
