The U.S. needs a children's vote on issues relevant to them.

Why? Because they're humans too, and they possess the wisdom of innocence from which we could become a kinder, safer, wiser nation. Their voices should be heard, and right now they're not.

A children's vote would also educate upcoming generations on the basics of good citizenship in a representative democracy. They would practice these basics such that once they become adults, they will understand and better perform their roles as citizens.

And vote.

Children's votes could be conducted prior to official elections so that adult voters could reference & consider their voices on the relevant issues.

Children could be automatically registered as child voters at the start of first grade & begin learning about living in and protecting democracy.

Child voters would receive questions on matters that affect them, like food, shelter, the environment, education, safety, etc.

Questions would be designed to inform adults as to the health, happiness, and well-being of our nation's children: Do they get enough to eat? Do they feel safe at home and in school? Do they have places to play? Get enough sleep? Basics.

Other questions would provide us insight: should a sick person go to the doctor? Should s/he have to pay the doctor? Pay for medicine? Should the doctor be paid? Who should pay the doctor? And so on.

Additional example issues:

Food:
Should kids pay for school lunches?
If so, should kids who can't pay miss lunch?
If not, who should pay?

Safety:
Have you been bullied, etc.
Is the walk to/from school safe
Should there be rules for guns

Etc.

The U.S. needs a children's vote on issues relevant to them so that we become wiser, better informed citizens, so that future generations will understand their roles as citizens, and so that voting becomes a priority among the citizenry.

Feed the hungry
Shelter the homeless
Treat the sick

Please protect us from killers with guns.
Please educate us.
Please let us be who we are.

Don't hurt children. Or people. Or animals. Or our air and water.
