So Richmond’s statues of 🚨Jefferson Davis🚨- former president of the Confederacy - has been ripped out and is now sitting 20 ft away on the street

“A little help?” - former president of the confederacy, Jeff Davis.

“You’re more th and welcome to take pictures with it” - @RichmondPolice allows folks to get close for photos. Being friendly.

Folks who showed up seem shocked. Have been mostly quiet.

For Richmond this is a huge deal.

Crowd of maybe 100 gathered around the statue (behind the cop cars) - everything is still pretty mellow and jovial.

Still waiting for a proper towntruck it seems.

Lots of bikes and jean shorts.

I love Richmond.

Everyone’s walking around making coy smiles/eyebrows at eachother.

Davis wasn’t as big as the others, but he is and was the leader of the south.

This town, sick of that legacy, is holding back laughter as they watch him dragged onto the back ot a tow truck.

And here is Davis being dragged onto the bed as a crowd shouts “fuck that statue”

And here the crowd chants “hey hey hey good bye” as he’s shuttled off to a tow lot.

No incidents with the cops - folks are milling around but mostly heading home.

Richmond's event was incident free, but Portsmouth's statue pull last night ended with an injury.
