Today is Lalu Prasad Yadav's birthday. No politician in the history of India has harmed an entire generation of his state than this man. His greed and corruption not only destroyed the state's progress but made the term "Bihari" an abuse.
His acceptance by the New Delhi's liberal media and Bollywood is what used to boil my blood the most. He sold himself to them as a kind-hearted rustic buffon and everyone was happy to play along because in their mind he was a "secular hero" who had stopped Advani.
In the good old days, before social media, SRK used to invite him for his tv shows.

A movie was made called "Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav" in which he had a cameo.
He was a hero of our media stars who were happy to get selfies with him instead of questioning him. For Biharis like me, this was a major factor in removing all the trust in our media. They were all happy to support a corrupt and criminal politician as long as he was "secular".
A Bihari life is incomplete without hearing these phrases
1. Ek Bihari, sau bimari
2. Jaha Kaua nahi biathta, woha bhi tumhe bihari melega
3. Tum Bihari bilkul nahi lagte
4. Laloo ki mimicry karke dikhao na (my SST teacher told me to do in front of the class)
When Lalu Prasad was the railway minister in UPA, he claimed that the railways earned a total profit of Rs.25,000 crore. CAG later found out that this was all a "cosmetic exercise" in the budget.

His supporters still repeat this lie to this date.

Today, to know someone's social standard, you look at his phone, at his house, or his car.

In Laloo's Bihar, you knew it if their kids were kidnapped for ransom or not. I remember two kids from my class were kidnapped and I used to feel jealous of them.
Recently, Bollywood and media suddenly developed love for Bihari migrant workers after years of encouraging and cheering a guy whose actions led to his situation. Biharis are working in the entire country because there are no jobs at home. Migrant live matter, my foot!
I have spent a major part of my life outside Bihar receiving hate and ridicule for being a Bihari but still, nothing will take away the love I have for the place where I was born. This house, this village, the memories will live forever. No one can take away that, not even Laloo.
