Ok, let's take a quick look at the @jetbrains "state of developer ecosystem 2020" report and what was interesting to me.

First, almost 20,000 developers took part. Many from midsize companies, so keep that in mind.
People still read books! That makes me happy. Devs get most info from community sites and social media. A few of you love the radio, apparently.
I see so many online conferences catering to the experience, but interesting to see that the vast majority of devs show up purely for the content.
#dotnet devs still using a lot of the Windows-based Framework, but #dotnetcore is almost the top choice. Also, kudos to C# devs who quickly move to the newer versions of the language.
Java devs? Not so much. They love themselves some Java 8! Regardless, Java devs love @springboot.
I like questions that ask about what devs are actually building. Not surprisingly, mostly websites.
#JavaScript devs sure do like @code. And I salute you, goofball who prefers Emacs.
It's so difficult to get folks to change database engines! 71% aren't going anywhere. That tells me that API-compatible interfaces are the only real way to get folks onto an entirely new engine.
Containers are going to the cloud, by a small margin over on-premises servers.
Where these workloads are going, may be a surprise to some.
How do distributed components communicate with each other? I'm somewhat surprised that 79% say REST. Not surprised that queuing is high. Kinda surprised that streaming is low.
The testing arena is still ... a work in progress. Getting there, but interesting to see that usability and stress testing are uncommon.
Finally, most devs use source control tools. Some use CI/CD. Nobody uses cloud IDEs.

Check out the whole report. Good stuff here.
