The City and Public Health Services are working with local licensed child care centre operators to ensure a gradual & safe reopening of these centres.
All will be required to follow strict health protocols &meet additional requirements to safely reopen.
The new protocols include enhanced cleaning, mandatory screening of staff and children, mandatory staff training, limitations on visitors, and ensuring an updated COVID-19 response plan is in place.
Additionally, restrictions on the size of groups will be limited to 10 individuals per room, including both staff and children. The centres must also complete and pass a Public Health inspection prior to reopening.

Beginning today, the public can access an interactive COVID-19 online mapping tool. This tool was created to assist interested individuals and groups with easily determining the location of confirmed positive and probable COVID-19 cases displayed by neighbourhood.
The map is colour-coded to represent the rate of positive cases in the City, with the darkest blue areas indicating the highest rate per 100,000 population and the lightest beige-coloured areas indicating those with the lowest rates.
This map illustrates the cases by area, and provides the following information:
*The reference name of the census tract
*The incidence rate per 100,000 for that census tract
*The total number of confirmed or probable cases in that area
*And the total population for that area

With cases of COVID-19 on the rise in #HamOnt and across Ontario, Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, is echoing the announcement made by Premier Doug Ford earlier today and recommending that residents move away from the concept of the “social circle”
and limit close interactions to those within their households.
Trends in COVID-19 cases in Hamilton are showing that the virus is most commonly being transmitted at private social gatherings, in situations where people are not practicing appropriate physical distancing,
and when people are not wearing masks indoors or in other settings where physical distancing is a challenge.
With businesses and schools reopening, and many residents returning to work, the concept of a social circle no longer reflects the reality of our daily lives,
The City of Hamilton is advising residents that an employee working at the Flamborough Municipal Service Centre (MSC) has tested positive for COVID-19.
Hamilton Public Health Services notified the City of the positive test result late this afternoon. The employee is currently self-isolating and Public Health Services is in the process of completing contact tracing to ensure all close contacts also self-isolate.
