To those who have not read my story, it’s was one of love. It also had the 100 percent backing of my black husband @DuaneFordeTSN who insisted I use the offensive word. I had to own my past to help my black children’s future
I believe what @TimMcClure23 is saying is I, as a white woman, who is trying to use my story to help end racism, was only met negatively by one person. That was @Kayla_Grey. She put me on full blast in four consecutive tweets and scolded me for the use of the word
I know what the word means all too well, it was not only used by my dad like it was water, but also has been hurled at my father in law, my husband, and now my son.
I am on @Kayla_Grey side. We all want to end racism. But instead of being inclusive to what a white woman is doing to hel, I found her to be divisive in her comments on my story. I took that incredibly personally
It took 20 years for me to write this story and when I did put it out there, I felt like she minimalized it. I would have preferred her to use professional courtesy to reach out to either @DuaneFordeTSN who she works with, or me but she didn’t
Please don’t make my story a black/white thing. Don’t get divisive-it’s time to come together.
