There are so many disingenous health care takes right now; things that if they were said a couple months ago, would have made you a pariah.
Now, it seems ok, because...politics comes first.
I've had enough.
Trump's team seems to have wished away the COVID virus all together. At this point, I can't point to single thing the administration is doing.
Are they coordinating efforts to continue to suppress the virus? Are they providing PPE, etc to states if there is a 2nd wave?
As far as I can tell, they have given up hope on any of these. They are largely crossing their fingers and hoping the summer heat will kill it off.
Of course, Winter is coming.
Red states opened up their economies...I wish we could've waited, but the reality is that people were fed up.
So be it.
But we should be repeating the mantra constantly that the more people social distance, hand wash and wear masks, the better off we will ALL be.
Blue states seem to think that because their disease rates have precipitously dropped, they are in the clear.
Nope.
They didn't suppress the curve. They failed in step 1. That doesn't mean that the second wave won't hit them all the same.
Look at the subways and buses. As far as I can tell, they have done mostly nothing. They are masking their employees, which is good. They theoretically are mandating masks on the subway, but apparently, no one is enforcing that rule.
What sense does this make?
The media lost all credibility after the protests. I don't think anything they say will carry much weight going forward.
Many of our better experts have been consistent; they said that we should maintain social distancing no matter what, masks no matter what, etc
Even during the recent protests.
But many didn't. And those experts aren't going to have much credibility.
Even states that have done well so far are setting themselves up for a failure in the Fall or Winter.
That doesn't mean we will have another NYC repeat. That is unlikely. But hot spots will pop up.
BUT...we have to live INTELLIGENTLY.
Socially distance as much as possible. Wash your hands every time you think of it. And masks when possible. Even if only when convenient, this can help!
And hope a cure is on its way.
