As Trump tried to portray Seattle's autonomous zone as lawless terrorism, Fox News used photoshopped images to show a man with a gun in front of a smashed window.

Fox's home page also splashed a photo of raging fires in Minneapolis to represent Seattle.

I mean, come on. The photo is also from two weeks ago.

(A correction on my part: The fires were in St. Paul, not Minneapolis)
Meanwhile, here's an update from the Autonomous Zone today: Seattle's mayor walked through, had no safety concerns and said she wasn't aware of any reports of serious crimes there.

I am getting a ton of messages about supposed reports of businesses extorted in the autonomous zone. The storyline has floated up to cable news as an example of chaos.

The reports are alarming, so I’ve been chasing them and wanted to update folks... 1/

The claim got promoted by the Seattle Police Department as something they had heard. Police Chief Best mentioned it, without evidence, as a “report” that people “may be demanding payment” in exchange for protection.
Chief Best now says those reports came from anecdotes circulating on places like social media. She said nobody had actually made a complaint about the issue to the Police Department.

A man just drove through a crowd of demonstrators in Seattle and then appeared to shoot someone.

Authorities say the man is in custody, one person shot is in the hospital in stable condition.
