Why people do cosmetic surgery

When you hear compliments, you feel good.

That's because a hormone called dopamine is released in your brain everytime you hear them.

This is why people will go to great lengths to look good

It's human behaviour, you can't change it
The problem is that: you get used to it easily so you need to do more things to get it flowing again.

That's why some people spend more than they should, undergo dangerous procedures even when they should not, borrow, just to look good.

Remember: Human behavior
You can argue all you want about the risks of doing cosmetic surgeries in some places but people will continue to do it especially if they can get it at a cheaper rate than what is obtainable at other places.

You will think the gory photos will stop them.

No: Dopamine
There are people who need plastic surgery not just for cosmetic reasons alone

A lady with very large breasts might benefit from having them reduced if they cause back pain

Majority of people who do cosmetic surgeries do it to feel better about themselves

That's not a bad thing
And that is totally fine, however you should understand that no surgery is without risk

Make sure you understand fully the risks of what you want to do

Make sure the doctor doing it is qualified, you can check napras.org.ng and type the doctor's name and location
If the doctor's name shows up, then they have the required skills to do that plastic or reconstructive surgery in Nigeria.

They require some experience and are very risky. Be careful who you submit your body to reconstruct. The complications are far reaching and some have died
There's also a condition known as body dysmorphic disorder where the person focus on one particular "flaw" in their body and will go to dangerous lengths to sort it.

It's a mental illness and sometimes, the flaw is imagined

Always checking the mirror, seeking reassurance etc.
Focusing intensely on that one flaw, that may or may not be there. Constantly want to be reassured by others, sometimes they avoid social events

They'll usually have repeated cosmetic surgeries to fix that flaw and still not be satisfied.
