Throughout the 90’s Intersectionality emerged as an endeavor to create a framework for morality using remediation of identity-based oppression as its core value. It was taught & painstakingly codified in university departments that evolved into seminary-like facilities. 1/5
For decades scholars circled the intersectional pyramid, lifting the epistemological status of subjective experience & establishing a complicated set of beliefs & practices. A moral law that specially trained activists would evangelize & enforce throughout western societies. 2/5
The doctrine united other scholarly pursuits & expanded. It's equipped with its own language, a metaphysic, a strong focus on guilt, & an abstracted statistical empathy that looks a lot like traditional left-wing values. 3/5
I'm not saying this academic enterprise is completely divorced from reality. I'm not saying religious people are crazy. I am claiming there's scope to classify it a religion & subject it to secular democratic principles in an effort to deescalate political tensions. 4/5
I'll continue to map this out & make films about it either way but if there's a brave professor out there that would like to recruit me I'll flesh this perspective out academically & defend it. 5/5
