Windows 10 Alert: Defragger bug defrags SSD Drives too often - @LawrenceAbrams

The general consensus has always been that you should not defrag an SSD drive to prevent unnecessary wear and tear.
Based on an article by Microsoft's Scott Hanselman, Windows 10 performs a defrag of SSDs once a month if volume snapshots are enabled.

Defrags, trims, and other drive optimizations are done on a weekly basis by the Automatic Maintenance feature of the operating system.
A bug in the Drive Optimizer (defrag), though, is causing last optimizations times to not be remembered on a reboot of Windows.
This means that if Windows is restarted more than once a month, on each subsequent automated drive optimization, the SSD drive could be defragged.
In numerous tests conducted by BleepingComputer, we started an automated maintenance and saw our SSD drives be defragged. On reboot, it would not remember that the optimization was done already, and would defrag again.
To prevent this from happening until the bug is fixed, it is suggested that you exclude SSD drives from automatic maintenance for the time being. More information on how to do that can be found in the article.

Last week we reported on eBay port scanning their visitor's computer for remote access programs. These scans are part of an anti-fraud product and are most likely used to find compromised computers making fraudulent purchases.

Zoom Client Leaks Windows Login Credentials to Attackers - by @LawrenceAbrams

Security researchers @_g0dmode and @hackerfantastic revealed tonight that the Zoom client is vulnerable to UNC injection that can be used to steal Windows login credentials or attempt to launch a program.
When using Zoom's built-in chat feature, users can send URLs that are automatically converted into clickable hyperlinks. It was also discovered that UNC paths can also be sent and automatically converted to clickable links.

Security staffing firm, Allied Universal, was breached by Maze Ransomware who is leaking stolen files after ransom wasn't paid

* Stole 5GB of files before encrypting network.
* Demanded 300 bitcoins ($2.3 million) ransom
* No payment. Files being leaked.

This is a summary of how the Maze Ransomware crew told BleepingComputer about their breaching of Allied Universal's network and their demands of a $2.3 million ransom. When payment wasn't made, they started leaking the company's stolen files.
Last Friday, BleepingComputer received an email from the Maze Ransomware group who stated that they breached Allied's network, stole unencrypted files, encrypted hundreds of machines, and then demanded a ransom of 300 bitcoins.

If Allied did not pay, Maze would leak their files.
