COHABITING BEFORE MARRIAGE... is a sin no matter how you want to define it. A sin is a sin! In fact, it's a serious one at that because Allaah warned in the holy Qur'an that 'we should not move near Zina (fornication/adultery) for it's a sin that paves way for other sins.
Stop the mindset of 'we need to get to know each other well' it's wrong to cohabit with your would-be spouse, seek repentance and desist. Islam is beautiful!

Pray for guidance when choosing a spouse. Of course, investigation/consultations can be done into the family you're marrying into. But not cohabiting with each other please.
