John Swinney starts by recognising the "enormous burden" carried by parents and carers trying to home school during lockdown.

Swinney says "we will return to full time schooling at the earliest possible opportunity" and said position on schools will be reviewed every three weeks.
Space at schools and availability of teaching staff are the biggest constraints for councils trying to expand provision says Swinney. Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education has been asked to scrutinise councils' plans.

John Swinney says 25,000 Chromebooks (with internet access) about to be delivered which will go to those most in need as part of a wider bid to "fill in the gaps".
Social distancing will be enforced on buses / taxis used to ferry pupils to and from schools, Mr Swinney says.
Asked about the speculation on next year's SQA exams, Mr Swinney said: "We plan that the 2021 exams will go ahead."
